Press Release  posted on 06/04/07

On Monday, June 11, at 7:00 p.m., at Henry Harris School, 135 Avenue C, Kaplan Companies will host the second public meeting to share project updates and hear the public's thoughts about the proposals for redeveloping the Texaco property. That land is located in the southwestern corner of Bayonne. Kaplan Companies, a developer that has been building in New Jersey since 1952, is working in conjunction with the Bayonne Local Redevelopment Authority (BLRA) to redevelop the long-vacant Texaco Redevelopment District in the city's Bergen Point section. This will be a free and open public forum in which professionals from different facets of the project will present the draft plan, answer and pose questions, and record public feedback. The Kaplan Companies and the BLRA hope that as many people as possible will attend, so that they can gather views from a cross-section of our diverse community.

Kaplan Companies has prepared plans for a mixed-use redevelopment of the Texaco site. As Kaplan moves forward with its redevelopment plan, it is imperative to receive input from as many Bayonne residents and business owners as possible. To that end, Kaplan hosted its first public meeting in December 2006 to receive community comments. The meeting in June will continue the discussion with the public that began at that earlier forum.

Meeting participants will break into four groups, and will have the opportunity to discuss: urban design and architecture, open space and public facilities, commercial and retail services, and circulation and infrastructure.

For more information about the redevelopment plan, readers may visit the Kaplan website, which is www.KaplanAtBayonne.com.
