Harbor
Station, the westernmost district, is envisioned as a
vibrant mixed-use district including low- to mid-rise
housing, neighborhood retail, office space,
entertainment and civic facilities. The District will
also include substantial open space and waterfront
amenities.
This district will be the gateway to The
Peninsula at Bayonne
Harbor, linking the site to the major highway systems in the area (Rt. 440
and the New Jersey Turnpike) as well as re-establishing
an easy access transportation route to the rest of the
Bayonne community. The two light rail
stations will provide focus for transit-oriented
development. It will be linked to the rest of the City
of Bayonne via the reopening of the existing 40th
Street and 45th Street bridges.
In 2005, the BLRA entered into a
Redevelopment Agreement with Fidelco Bayonne Realty LLC,
who is partnered with Roseland Properties, to develop
the Harbor Station district. In 2006, the BLRA and
Fidelco entered into a $21 million deal with Fidelco and
Roseland for the first phase, “Harbor Station North”,
the portion of the district adjacent to the 45th
St Light Rail Station.
